Recently I re-introduced myself to one of my hobbies from the past: figure skating. Maybe you have a pastime or hobby that you used to do when you were younger but stopped for whatever reason. I’ve been there. Life gets in the way and as you grow up, sometimes it becomes more routine- if you let it. I’m thankful that right now I don’t have classes so I’m trying to maximize my free time. Obviously I still have my downtime where I love just catching up on shows on Netflix. Well maybe like one show per day, while I eat breakfast. Multitasking is good, guys! But I’ve been learning the importance of balance. What it comes down to is organization and preparation. And this can really apply to anything you want to do. Even if it’s a fun activity, sometimes you have to plan it out so that you don’t waste time trying to figure things out the day of. So I took this into consideration and decided to go figure skating yesterday. It’s been a while so I had to get my muscles used to it again (muscle memory came in handy though, lol).
I hope that you guys don’t get discouraged to reintroduce yourselves to the things you are passionate about. Life will always get in the way. There will always be opportunity for excuses. But the challenge comes with perspective. You actually have control over your time. There’s a quote that goes: “If you don’t like where you are, move. You are not a tree.” You don’t have to be rooted to a job you hate or do things just for the heck of it. Get back to your passion. You actually perform better when you are passionate about what you do. Maybe even start up a new hobby. Learning new things can even increase your intelligence!
That being said, I am making it a goal to go ice skating at least 2-3 times per month. Side note, ice skating is a great lower-body workout and it improves your balance and flexibility. Can’t go wrong with that! Also for anyone wanting to give ice skating a try, I encourage wearing long socks or at least make sure your pants won’t ride up on the ankles. I got bruised pretty badly when I forgot to do that. Oops! For my outfit, I opted for some super comfy yoga leggings. They are high-waisted so it goes great with a cropped sweater. I paired it with a cropped hoodie top that I use mainly to lounge around in. I also did a half up half down hairstyle (Ariana Grande always rocks this look). That hairstyle really is the best of both worlds. The hair is out of your face but it’s still sorta down so you can curl the tips for a nice look.
Hope you guys are inspired to try something new today. Comment below if you did! XO
